Team Lumbar awarded €3,000 for the best Technology Based Idea
Madrid-MIT M+Visión Fellows Team Lumbar won the madri+d “Foundation for Knowledge” Award for the best technology based idea. The team’s core invention is to use ultrasound devices as acoustic microscopes to noninvasively detect meningitis in infants under the age of one. The judges highlighted the project’s high level of innovation, the scientific content and its potential for development. Team Lumbar will receive 3,000 euros in order to develop a business plan, furnished by the Área del Emprendador de Base Tecnológica madri+d (The Department of the Technology-based Entrepreneur.) M+Visión Fellows Javier Jiménez González (biomedical engineer and MBA), Ian Butterworth (electronics engineer and acoustics), Jie Luo (MRI/brain imaging), Carlos Castro González (image and signal processing), and Berta Martí Fuster (biomedical imaging) make up Team Lumbar.
